Garnette Lucille Somogie

Garnette Lucille (Ames) Somogie, 84, of Pelham, N.H., wife of the late Edward O. Somogie, died May 23 in the Greenbriar Terrace Nursing Care Center in Nashua, N.H.

The Somogies were former residents of Newtown, and raised their family in Newtown.

Born in Dekoven, Ky., on August 17, 1920, Mrs Somogie was the daughter of the late Aubrey and Gertrude (Banks) Ames. She received her education in the Dekoven school system.

Surviving her are two daughters, Joanie Conroy of Seymour and Deborah Hamblett, and her husband, Gregory, of Tyngsboro, Mass.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Allen and Leslie Somogie of Pelham, N.H., Gary and Beverly Somogie of Andover, Mass., and David Somogie of Nashua, N.H.; 14 grandchildren: Brandon, Sarah, Colin, Priscilla, Jessica, Laura, Hannah, Andrea, Joseph, Nathan, Samuel, and Rachel Somogie, Ruth Belden, and Bonnie Jones; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Charlotte and Bill Brown of Sturgis, Ky., Dorothy and Chester Bassett of Hemet, Calif., and Juanitta Bartholome of Evansville, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late James Somogie and the late Brenda Jones, and the sister of the late Jean Goff.

Mrs Somogie devoted her life to tending to the needs of her family and caring for her grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27, at 10 am in the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut, Mass. Friends were invited to call at the funeral home Thursday, May 26, from 3 until 7 pm. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Chelmsford, Mass.
