Summerer Is Playing Golde In JCCS’s ‘Fiddler’

BRIDGEPORT — The JCCS Players of Bridgeport will present Fiddler on The Roof December 6-14 at JCCS auditorium, 4200 Park Avenue. Curtain is 8 pm on Saturdays, December 6 and 13, and 2 and 7 pm on Sundays, December 7 and 14.

The play – written by Joseph Stein, with music by Jerry Bock and lyrics by Sheldon Harnick – was nominated for ten Tony nominations and won nine, including Best Musical. It tells the story of the farmer Tevye, his wife Golde, their five daughters, and of love and traditions in the small village of Anatevka.

The show boasts a cast of 71 adults, teens and children. Pat Summerer of Newtown will be playing the role of Golde.

“We have found a very unique way to tell the story,” says JCCS director Tobi Beth Silver. “We have designed the theater to resemble the village, bringing the story and the characters into and among the audience. This is an opportunity to feel what the people of Anatevka felt – their joy, their tears, and their traditions.

“This will be a Fiddler on The Roof like you have never seen before,” promised the director.

All tickets are $10. Call 203-372-6567 extension 129 for reservations or additional information.
