DANBURY – The Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS) today announced that it will hold its first ever “Home for the Holidays” adoption program. Its goal is to place 100 needy, homeless animals with loving families in the Greater Danbury Area by January 4th.

DAWS aims to achieve this goal through extended open hours, off-site adoption events, and a heightened public awareness of the overwhelming number of needy animals in the Greater Danbury area.

The recent surge in the number of stray animals has pushed many shelters across the country to capacity, including DAWS. As part of the “Home for the Holidays” adoption program, DAWS open house hours are being extended. Through January 4, the organization will be open to all those interested in adopting animal Monday through Friday 6 to 8 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays 2 to 4:30 pm.
