New Zenith Theatre Auditions Scheduled

WATERBURY — The New Zenith Theatre at Naugatuck Valley Community College will hold auditions for two projects to be performed by adults and young actors in the spring.

The Secret Garden, the musical adaptation by Lucy Simon and Marsha Norman from the book by Frances Hodgson Burnett, is scheduled for an early April production in the college’s Mainstage theater. The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare is a non-musical play which will receive a staged reading this winter.

Auditions will be held Thursday, December 4, from 6 to 10 pm, and Saturday, December 6, from 1 to 5 pm. Actors and singers should prepare a short acting monologue and a one-minute to two-minute song, preferably from any musical, and bring sheet music for the selection.

A cold reading may be substituted for the monologue, and will be available at the auditions.

Those auditioning should bring a résumé and photo, if possible. Auditions are open to adults and children ages 10 and above from throughout the community. 

The New Zenith’s recent productions include Equus, The King of Ireland’s Son, The Tempest, Cyrano, Gypsy and A Wrinkle in Time.
