With the reopening of C.H. Booth Library a few weeks ago, the public exhibition of art in the lower meeting room resumed along with most regular offerings at 25 Main Street.

A collection of pieces of Newtown resident Anne Marie Foran is currently on view, will continue until Thursday, April 3.

The public is invited to meet Ms Foran and view the collection during an artist’s reception on Sunday, March 23, from 3 to 5 pm.

Anne Marie Foran is an artist who works in a variety of mediums, including watercolors, oils, pastels and collage, as well as sculpture.

She received her BFA in art from Manhattan Marymount College in New York, and has also studied at Washington Art Association with such artists as Ira Barkoff, Marija McCarthy, Jack Rosenberg and Bob Alberetti, and sculpture with John Riedemann. Additionally, she has studied portraiture with Daniel Green and has taught classes in collage.

Of her work, she says, “It is the intrinsic essence of a scene or subject, revealed sometimes in the subtlest details, that I seek to capture.”

Recently, her collage entitled “Melody” received an award in a display of members’ works at Washington Art Association. In April, she will contribute  to an exhibition at The Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury.

Praised for her evocative use of color, her work can be found in private collections in New York City, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Boston, Nantucket, and throughout Fairfield and Litchfield counties. She is a member of Washington Art Association, Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists, and Brookfield Craft Center.

C.H .Booth Library is open Monday through Thursday from 9:30 am until 8 pm; Friday, 11 am to 5 pm; Saturday, 9:30 am to 5 pm; and Sunday, 12 to 5 pm. Ms Foran’s art can be viewed any time the library is open, when the meeting room is not being used.
