Summer Institute For The Gifted

Serves Newtown Students

STAMFORD — The Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG) offers programs to serve gifted students, their parents, and educators throughout the state.

“SIG is best known for providing educational summer camps designed specifically to stimulate the intellect of academically talented students,” noted Barbara Swicord, vice president of academics.

Summer camp programs are available to students in grades 4 through 11 and offered at college campuses including Amherst, Bryn Mawr College, Caldwell University, Oberlin College, UCLA, and Vassar.

Students can qualify if they have scored in the 95th percentile or above in at least one of the major content areas of a national standardized test administered by their schools. Students identified as gifted who have participated in their school’s gifted program can also apply.

SIG programs are available to Newtown area students and educators. The institute’s professional staff is available to discuss gifted educational issues with students, parents and educators. All consultations are free and confidential. For additional information on SIG programs, contact Amanda Ritz toll-free at 866-303-4744, email aritz@aifs.com, or visit www.giftedstudy.com.
