Summer Baseball Camps
Newtown High School Baseball Coach Matt Memoli will hold two baseball camps, at Newtown High, during the week of June 25-29 (Visit www.newtown-ct.gov to register)
Summer Baseball Academy: This camp, for boys and girls ages 8-12, offers comprehensive baseball instruction of all aspects of the game. It is designed to provide players with the opportunity to get the most work in and using an âalways activeâ approach. Various types of instruction and learning experiences are offered and the player to coach ratio is kept at a maximum of six players for every instructor.
Players will receive an intense workout and will learn the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, throwing, and base running. Players will also take part in instructional and live games each day. The camp is designed for players to develop a positive mental attitude, learning self confidence, work ethic, and discipline. All instructors are college coaches, and coaches and players from the NHS baseball team.
The camp runs from 9 am to noon and the cost is $200. Register with Activity # 409625-A.
Middle School Baseball Academy: This program is designed specifically for the middle school-aged baseball player (ages 12-14, going into grades 8 or 9) to develop the skills necessary to perform at the next level. Players will also receive position-specific work and instruction, along with learning the importance of confidence in baseball.
The camp runs from 1-3 pm. Cost is $200. Register with Activity # 409624-A.
