Warren D. Glaser, 86, of Riverbend Country Club in Florida, beloved husband of Patricia (Draz) Glaser, died October 28 at Jupiter Medical Center, Juniper, Fla. Born April 18, 1921, in Bronx, N.Y., Mr Glaser was the son of the late Claude E. and Wilhelmina (Wolfe) Glaser. Formally of Hartsdale, N.Y., and Groton Long Point, the Glasers moved to Riverbend Country Club in 1988.
Warren is survived by his loving wife, Patricia, of 59 years; and his four children, Lynn and her husband, Jim Klar, Dan and his wife, Debbie Glaser, and Jim and his wife, Ann Glaser, all of Newtown, and Joan and her husband, Kendrik Gordon, of Dunedin, Fla. His ten grandchildren were the light of his life and provided him with an endless source of love and pride. He is survived by grandchildren Dale and his wife, Nora Glaser, of Sterling, Va., Michael Klar of Newtown, Scott Glaser of Emmaus, Penn., Elizabeth Glaser of Hoboken, N.J., Casey Klar of Boston, Colleen Glaser of Newtown, Cory and Amanda Glaser of Newtown, and Kimberly and Carolyn Gordon of Dunedin, Fla.
Mr Glaser was a graduate of Concordia College, Bronxville, N.Y., and New York University, where he was a member Kappa Sigma fraternity.
A proud veteran of World War II, he served as a First Lieutenant with the Mighty 8th Air Force, 784 Bomb Squadron, 466 Bomb Group in Attleboro, England, participating in the famed D-Day assault. He was recalled during the Korean War and served again under General LeMayâs Strategic Air Command.
Mr Glaser began his insurance career with INA as a special agent in Westchester County, N.Y., and later worked for Johnson and Higgins Insurance Brokers. He retired in 1983 from the Skandia American Reinsurance group where he was a Senior Vice President.
An avid golfer, Mr Glaser was a past member of St Andrews Golf Club, Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y., where he served on the board of directors for the golf club. He was an enthusiastic participant of the St Andrews Curling Club and served as president of the New York Caledonia Curling Club. While residing at Riverbend Country Club, he served on the golf board and as president of the menâs golf club.
A funeral Mass was held October 31 at St Peterâs Catholic Church, Jupiter, Fla.
