Francis H. McNellis, Sr
Francis H. McNellis, Sr, 78, of Newtown and formerly of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Marie Gulas McNellis, died October 26, at Griffin Hospital, with his family by his side. Born on July 9, 1933, he was proud to have been born on Pound Ridge Reservation in Lewisboro, N.Y. He was the son of Joseph McNelis and Louise McNelis Baxter.   Â
A US Army veteran of the Korean War, he was the owner and operator of Glenwood Electronics in Bridgeport for more than 30 years, and had also been employed by Singer Corp for more than 20 years. He was president of the Polish American Citizens Club (PACC).
An avid outdoorsman, Mr McNellis enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting, as well as tending to the chickens in his yard, and could often be found doing his daily crossword puzzle. A fun-loving guy, he enjoyed time spent with family and friends. Everyone could always count on listening to his jokes and life stories.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, survivors include three loving children, Darlene McNellis of Newtown, Michele Revere, and her husband Ron, of Newtown, and Lt Francis H. McNellis, Jr, Bridgeport Fire Department, and his companion Adelina Torres, and her children; seven cherished grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three siblings, George McNelis, Grace Baxter, and Mickey and Rose Gulas; as well as several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Joseph McNelis and William Baxter, predeceased Mr McNellis.
Friends may call Friday, October 28, from 4 to 8 pm, in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Funeral services will take place Saturday, October 29, at 9:30 am, in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Newtown.Â
