Celebrate A Landmark Supreme Court Decision
BRIDGEPORT â The public is invited to join The Thurgood Marshall Middle School for Social Justice and the Six To Six Magnet School when they co-host on Friday, May 7, a 50th anniversary celebration of the US Supreme Courtâs landmark decision in Brown vs The Board of Education. That 1954 decision made it illegal to segregate children in public schools based on their race.
Cecilia Marshall, the widow of the late Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, will participate in the celebration. She is also serving as the eventâs honorary chairman.
Events will begin at The Six To Six Magnet School at 1:30 pm. A panel discussion will begin at 5, as will entertainment.
