Carolyn Santora

Carolyn Chirico Santora, 85, of Scottsdale, Ariz., wife of the late Frank J. Santora, Sr, died December 29. Born on August 1, 1918, in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Guilio and Elmerinda Moccia Chirico. Mrs Santora was a lifelong Bridgeport area resident before moving to Scottsdale three years ago.

Survivors include a son, Frank J. Santora, Jr, and his wife Debra of Shelton; a daughter Adele Thurnher and her husband Charles of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; a sister Mary Gajnos of Newtown; five grandchildren, Michael and Stephen Santora and Gregory, Alexander and Elizabeth Thurnher; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, James and Thomas Chirico.

Mrs Santora was a great athlete. She played softball and basketball for Raybestos Championship Teams. She loved to travel and watch sports, and devoted many hours as a volunteer at the Judeo Christian Women’s Center, Bridgeport.

Funeral services were held on January 2 from the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at St Theresa Church, Trumbull, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Sister Theresa’s Home for the Handicapped through the funeral home.
