Concert pianist Jerry Traunig will perform a free concert on Tuesday, May 11. The performance will begin at 7 pm.
Mr Traunigâs show, âA Bouquet of the Best,â will feature selections from his vast repertoire including ragtime, novelties, standards, showtunes and classical music. Requests will be welcomed. Mr Traunig responds to any request spontaneously, without the encumbrance of written music.
A reception with Mr Traunig will follow the concert, to which the audience is also invited.
Mr Traunig began piano lessons at the age of seven, and completed his formal training at Hartt College of Music. Among his jobs, he has provided accompaniment to classic silent movies, without rehearsal, for a West Coast traveling antiquarian dance workshop. He was also formally recommended to perform at the annual Scott Joplin Festival at Joplinâs historic home in St Louis.
A partial list of host venues includes The Bushnell Memorial in Hartford, Sheraton Park Avenue Hotel in New York City; The Savoy, Chapel Hill, N.C.; The White House Inn, Vermont; and The Lamplighter Room at Hotel Lenox in Boston.
Mr Traunig is becoming a familiar face at The Homesteads, having provided background music for various events as well as performances during recent months.
