Registration Open For Camp Invention
SOUTHBURY â This summer students across the region are invited to take part in Camp Invention, a one-week day camp program that encourages children to develop their creative abilities. Participation is open to students entering grades two through six.
Campers participate in five inventive modules each day, including disassembling broken small appliances and using the parts to make their own inventions, studying pollution and building an earth-friendly town, building model amusement park rides integrating Newtonâs laws, and experimenting with sound.
Camp Invention is a project of the National Inventors Hall of Fame, a nationally recognized, nonprofit resource center for creativity in Akron, Ohio. It is presented in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Local teachers serve as camp directors. Local high school and college students serve as counselors. The camps feature a low staff/camper ratio, with one staff member for every eight campers.
This year, the program will be held July 19â23 at the Center School in Brookfield and August 16â 20 at the Gainfield School in Southbury.
The $199 camp fee includes snacks and a T-shirt. A ten percent discount is offered for siblings. A $10 late registration fee applies after June 1. Registration is limited to 110 children at each location. Call 800-968-4332 to register. For further information, visit the website at www.campinvention.org or call 203-575-1567.
