NUMC Planning Its Fall Fair

The Newtown United Methodist Church Fall Arts and Crafts Fair will be held on Saturday, October 20, from 10 am to 4 pm, at Reed Intermediate School, 3 Trades Lane.

The juried fair will include a variety of arts and crafts from local artists and crafters including paintings by David Merrill of Southbury, hand carved santas and woodland animals by Carol and Wayne Smith of Newtown, handcrafted soaps by Maureen Anderson of Easton, folk art by Marie Bordenkircher of Ridgefield, oil landscapes by the Reverend Dick Yerrington of Beacon Falls, watercolors by Jane McCutchan of Harrisburg, Penn., folk art by Stacey Olszewski of Sandy Hook, jewelry by Sharon Malinowski of Cromwell, doll clothes by Monica Weber of Roxbury, jewelry by Jennifer Blasko of Hopkinton, Mass., folk art by Pat and Ken Piddington of Monroe, jewelry by Victoria Miller of Newington, quilts by Jeanne and David Harlow of Amherst, Mass., jewelry by Sherry Hessels of Huntington, clay ornaments by Monica Neish of Glastonbury, brooms and maple products by JP & Marian Welch of Worthington, Mass., floral arrangements by Donna Scavonne of Waterbury, teepees and sleeping bags by Suzanne Coleman of West Haven, birdhouses by Joseph D. Joudy of Danbury, olive oil by David Miller of Watertown, pottery by Beth Schuh and Jenine Glatzer of Columbia, floral arrangements by Marcelyn & Archiblad Hyde of Enfield, knitting by Joann Brown of Danbury, angels in art by Mary Ann Carley of Sharon, garden grove pottery by Zhe Feng of Stafford Springs, nesting dolls by Betty Fortin of Weston, wood yard art by Sherry Crosier and Doug Hirte of New Milford, children’s quilts by Elaine Landau of Milford, and jewelry by Jin Lee of Milford.                             

The Newtown United Methodist Church Outreach Committee will also host a Bolivian Boutique at the fair to sell beautiful hand sewn goods from the Bolivian village supported by the Newtown church. The Bolivian Boutique will feature beautiful scarves, hats, dolls, back packs, table runners, cloths, and many more hand sewn items made of Bolivian woven wool. Proceeds from the sales at the Bolivian Boutique will be returned to the Women’s Cooperatives in Bolivia.

Members of the Rotary Club of Danbury will be on hand to provide Amber Alert registrations to all children.

The fair will also include a wide variety of homemade baked goods, theme baskets, and a silent auction. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, soup, chili and much more will all be available for lunch.
