Sunday, August 1 â The Siberian Husky Club of Western Connecticut and its rescue program, Siberian Husky Rescue of Southern New England, will hold the third annual membership drive Picnic/Rescue Fundraiser/Fun Match on Sunday, August 1 (rain date â Sunday, August 15) in the recreation area of Putnam Memorial Park in Redding (Route 58). Experience the fun filled world you can share with your Siberian. Come join us between 12 noon and 4 pm. This event is for owners of purebred Siberian Huskies. Bring your Siberian(s), kids, picnic baskets, chairs, picnic blankets, disposable bags for doggie deposits, and plenty of water for your Siberians(s). Grills and picnic tables are available in the park. There will be a âmicrochippingâ clinic for all Siberians who need to be chipped. Siberians adopted through our rescue program will be chipped for free, but there is a $15 fee for microchipping all other Siberians. Saturday and Sunday, August 21 and 22 â The U.S. Department of the Interior will hold a Wild Horse and Burro adoption on Saturday and Sunday, August 21 and 22, at the University of Connecticut in Storrs. Hours will be from 8 am to 5 pm on Saturday and 8 am to 12 noon on Sunday. A preview will be held on Friday, August 20, from 1 to 5 pm. Adoption fee will be determined by competitive bid (with a minimum bid of $125). More than 80 horses (mostly yearlings to five years of age, with a variety of colors) and burros will be available.
