IAIS Indian Market Weekend

WASHINGTON — The Institute for American Indian Studies is planning an Indian Market Weekend on Saturday and Sunday, August 14-15.

The event is open to the public and will be suitable for all ages.

Visitors will be invited to participate in activities including dance demonstrations, tasting traditional Native American foods, children’s activities, and more. Visitors can also meet people from many tribes including Cherokee, Abenaki, Oneida, Mohawk, Mohawk-Shinnecock, Two Kettles Band Lakota, Ogalala Sioux, Chippewa, and Schaghticoke.

A vendor area will offer Native American crafts.

The market will be open from 10 am to 4 pm both days.

The museum is at 38 Curtis Road. Regular museum admission is $4 for adults, $3.50 for seniors, and $2 for visitors ages 5 to 16. Call 860-868-0518 for additional information.
