Coin Collection Resumes At Big Y

To the Editor,

We would like to thank all the people in the past who have donated their Big Y coins and spare change to the Newtown Food Banks. Your generosity and thoughtfulness helped so many people get by during their times of need. Coins for bread, sandwiches, pizzas, chickens, and hot meals were greatly appreciated by those who have no means of cooking. The gift certificates purchased helped fill voids at the food banks and enabled access to immediate essentials.

One again we are collecting coins for those people who would like to donate to the Salvation Army Food Bank and Faith Food Pantry. We have placed a new collection box in the Big Y for you in hopes that we can continue providing Newtown’s needy with this service. If you have any questions about this program please call Newtown Social Services.

Our sincere thanks goes out to all those who donate and to the Big Y for allowing us to make it possible.
