Occupation: Mainly and most importantly, I am my son Michael’s mom.

I am also an information technology manager for the National Marine Manufacturers Association — aka “the boat show guys” — and I work as a software engineer and technical writer. I’m able to telecommute full-time from home helping them run 13 offices worldwide.

I graduated from the University of Connecticut and the Computer Processing Institute in Bridgeport, and I have to admit I was always good in math. I didn’t watch much TV growing up, and I remember starting to read Nancy Drew books in the second grade.

For fun right now I am writing a book called The American School of Witchcraft and Wizardry that takes place in Switzerland and the Black Forest of Germany. Someday, I hope it will be published. I also love to tell stories.

How Long In Newtown: I moved here to our home on Aunt Park Lane near Hattertown Pond in June 1991. I grew up in Stamford, but felt I needed more space. When I first looked at the house and saw goldfinches all over the thistle feeder, I was hooked.

What Do You Think Of This Town: There is a phenomenal sense of community here, a sense of pride. I love where I live and I’ve met so many wonderful people through the schools.

Family: My son Michael is 7 years old, and he loves tennis and the out-of-doors. He’s in second grade at Middle Gate School and he participates in everything. I’m really glad I can be home for him because we do a lot together.

My sister Barbara is a teacher and lives in Norwalk. My brother Jack is a software engineer. My parents retired to Catchogue, Long Island, N.Y., in the North Fork area. It is so different there than in the Hamptons, I love it. There are still fruit farms and vineyards.

Hobbies: I am a scrapbooker bigtime. I have a 60-inch round antique table that I use to put my albums together. I love puzzles. And Michael and I like to go into the woods to look for frogs.

Pets: Katie, our English springer spaniel, is 5. Then we have a cat named Stacy.

Favorite TV Show, Movie, Book: I sometimes watch Judging Amy, and I enjoyed a miniseries about Provence in France. Under the Tuscan Sun was a great movie.

I read everything I can get my hands on. Harry Potter is my favorite.

I also like the authors Nora Roberts and Maeve Binchy. There is a family saga called Tregaron’s Daughter by Madeleine Brent that I have enjoyed.

Most Vivid Memory About Newtown: I remember standing out in the middle of a snowstorm under a big tree freezing to death, enjoying the luminarias along Main Street and in the Ram Pasture last December and watching everyone come out of their houses to see it. That gave my goose bumps, and not just because I was cold.

Favorite Vacation Spot: I have canoed in the Boundary Waters of Duluth and Hibbing, Minnesota, and I’ve hiked in Switzerland. We like to vacation in New Hampshire, and I would rather put on hiking boots than high heels.

Personal Philosophy: I love to get up in the morning and feel the excitement of a new day. Sleeping is a nuisance but I guess we have to do it so I’m in bed from 1 am to 7 am. The way I look at it, I’ll have time to sleep when I’m old. Not now.
