CINA Caregiving Conference  Set for September 28

MADISON — Connecticut Interfaith Network on Aging will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary Caregiving Conference on Monday, September 28, at the Mercy Center, Madison, from 8:30 am to 4 pm. “20 Years of Caring for Body, Mind and Spirit” is the theme for this year’s event.

Monsignor Charles J. Fahey, director of the Third Age Center at Fordham University, New York City, will be the keynote speaker. Mgsr Fahey was the keynote speaker at the first Caregiving conference sponsored by CINA in 1984. He was a charter member of the Federal Council on Aging, appointed by former Presidents Nixon, Ford, and Carter. He had leadership roles in the White House Conference on Aging in 1971, 1981, and again in 1995 under former President Clinton. He was a Vatican representative to the 1982 United Nations World Assembly on Aging, and serves on many boards concerned with aging and caregiving issues.

In addition to the keynote address, workshops addressing issues related to body, mind, and spirit are planned throughout the day.

Connecticut Interfaith Network on Aging (CINA), a diverse network of people, has been planning educational spiritual conferences for 20 years. Those attending the conferences are parish visitors, social workers, aides, chaplains, nurses, clergy, therapists, advocates, volunteers, and family and friends caring for loved ones. CINA’s network includes Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox Christians, Jews, Muslims, Unitarians, Sikhs, Hindus, and seekers of spiritual truth. Previous conferences have resulted in capability attendance.
