WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Phillips Collection will host an Artful Evening gallery talk, “A Portrait of My Community — Jacob Lawrence’s Migration Series,” September 27 as part of its Thursday extended hours from 5 to 8:30 pm. Gallery talks are at 6 and 7.

The talk explores one of the cornerstones of The Phillips Collection, Jacob Lawrence’s “Migration Series.” The images portray the flight, beginning in World War I, of more than six million African Americans from the rural South to the industrial cities of the North.
