Henderson And His Music

DANBURY — Western CT State University’s Ruth Haas Library will host an opening reception on Monday, November 1, for “Skitch Henderson: A Man & His Music.” The reception will run from 4 to 6 pm at the library, which is on the university’s midtown campus on Fifth Avenue (off White Street/Route 6).

Mr Henderson is the founder and music director of The New York Pops, and a cultural icon whose career has embodied the progression of American music during the media age.

The show was prepared in collaboration with The Smithsonian Institution Affiliations Program and Smithsonian curator Dwight Blocker Bowers, who is cultural historian of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History.

The reception is open to the public, free of charge. Mr Henderson and his wife Ruth, who are also the owners of The Silo Gallery*Store*Cooking School in New Milford, are planning to attend the reception. “Skitch Henderson: A Man & His Music” will remain on view until December 12.
