Notes of Encouragement
Notes of Encouragement
To the Editor:
The following is information I received in an e-mail this week. It has given me an opportunity for âhands-on helpingâ during this time of national crisis and my hope is that many like-minded Newtowners will follow suit.
Notes on encouragement and gratitude have been requested to be sent to firefighters and police officers in New York City, to remind them that they are cared about and supported in their unimaginable tasks.
Those who like the idea but donât know what to write, may copy the simple words I have been writing in each note: To a Brave Firefighter or Police Officer, I many not know your name or your face, but I do know your heart. Thank you! Gold Bless America and You! Followed by your signature.
If sending a few cards or many, the following recommendations have been made:
1. Leave the envelopes unsealed
2. On the front of each envelope, write âFirefighterâ or âPolice Officerâ
3. Send the envelopes inside another larger envelope and mail to the appropriate address:
Commissioner Thomas Von Essen, New York City Fire Department, 1 Chase Manhattan Plaza, New York, NYÂ 10005
Commissioner Bernard Kerik, New York City Police Department, Community Relations, 1 Police Plaza, New York, NY 10038-1497
Notes of encouragement are also requested for Mary Rudolph Giuliani, New York City Hall, 1 City Hall, New York, NY 10007-1200, and President George W. Bush, The White House, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, DC 20500
God Bless America
