Cut-A-Thon To Help Burn Victim

The staff of Fun Kutz will hold will hold a cut-a-thon to benefit a local child on Saturday, December 4, from 9 am to 2 pm, at the salon on Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook Center.

All proceeds from the cut-a-thon will be benefit Cary DeYoung, 7, who was badly burned when his costume caught fire from a candle while trick-or-treating on Halloween in his Hawleyville neighborhood.

Owner Marci Benitez and stylists Gennifer Herrmann and Jayne Herrmann will be taking part in the cut-a-thon. Ms Benitez said she and her husband wanted to do something to help the DeYoung family and her staff agreed.

“I have children of my own and it just tugged at my heart when I read about Cary,” she explained. “This is something we can all do to help the family.”

Haircuts will be at their regular prices. Adults, teens, and children are invited to get haircuts or to drop off cash donations at the salon. For more information call 426-7040.
