Footballs For Freedom
Footballs For Freedom
To the Editor:
Nine-year-old Newtown student Nick Fatse is an outdoor sports enthusiast, hockey and lacrosse player. His teacher recently asked each of the students in class to write a letter to our troops in Iraq. Nick wrote his letter and began to think about these service men and women and how much he appreciates what they are doing. Being a young man of big ideas, Nick decided a letter was a good start, but he needed to do something more to express his thanks to our troops.
He decided to collect money to purchase footballs to send to the troops. The goal is to get the footballs to the troops in time for the Super Bowl at the end of January. Aided by his parents and his sister Rachel, they contacted Wilson Sporting Goods, who makes professional footballs and who has agreed to let them purchase footballs for the troops at cost and assist with shipping costs to send them to Iraq.
Your support of this local initiative of support for our troops is requested. Please help Nick help make a difference. He calls his initiative âFootballs for Freedom.â I think Itâs a great way to say âThanks!â to the troops in Iraq this Thanksgiving. Please send a donation to Nick Fatse 125 High Rock Road Sandy Hook, CT 06482. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
