Harrison Robert Hoyt, 91, of North Conway, N.H., died November 26 at the SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in North Conway.
He was the brother of Betty McFarlane of Newtown.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Bethel until 1956 and then moved to the Manchester, Vt., area, where he lived until moving to North Conway in 1998.
Mr Hoyt trained and raced harness horses for over 60 years and was one of two amateur drivers ever to win the Hambeltonian Trot, which he won in 1948 with his trotter Demon Hanover.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ruth (Marble) Hoyt of North Conway; two sons, Harrison Hoyt, Jr, of Conway and William Hoyt of Lawrenceburg, In.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two other sisters, Margaret Hoyt of Danbury and Louise Short of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; a brother, Ben Hoyt of Banning, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
