Helena May Ladd, 98, a longtime resident of Newtown, previously of Trumbull, died on February 21 in Danbury Hospital.
Predeceased by her husband, Elwood S. Ladd, she is survived by three loving children, her daughter, Kathleen (Ladd) Fischer, and her husband, Laurence, of Newtown and their children, Teresa Fischer and her fiancée Martin McKenzie, Larry III Fischer and his wife, Joyce, and Karl Fischer; her son, Robert E. Ladd, and his wife, Ann, of Vero Beach, Fla., and their children and spouses, Debra and Wayne Liscinsky, Sandra and Bill Kolack, Linda and Ray Ligouri, Barbara and Robert Marinaro; her daughter, Luella (Ladd) Dwyer of Monroe and children and spouses, Anita and Phillip Overkleeft, Sharon and Joe Tavares, Diane Brainard, Carol and Ed McDonald, Lisa Dwyer, and Daniel and Paula Dwyer; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Dawn, Bryan, Justin, Kristin, Kaitlin, Amy, Beth, James, Scott, Carrie, Tori, Brandon, Autumn, Andrew, and Chelsea.
Born in Salem, Mass., she was a retired milliner and seamstress, and had worked at St Josephâs Manor for 18 years. Fond of crocheting and rug hooking, Helena also enjoyed gardening, shell collecting, and painting.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 26, at 11 am, in the Lesko-Miner Funeral Home, 155 Main Street (Route 25), Monroe, with burial to follow in Long Hill Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet her family from 10 am until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 372 Danbury Road, Suite 159, Wilton CT 06897, or to a charity of oneâs choice.
