Coping With Holiday Depression On NAMI's Agenda
Coping With Holiday Depression
On NAMIâs Agenda
Fairfield â Whether or not we want to get caught up in the âbusynessâ of the holidays, it always seems to happen. Lists of things to do, people to see, and gifts to buy can be overwhelming and lead to a place where we dread, instead of delight in, the holiday season.
To help with this dilemma, NAMI Fairfieldâs First Wednesday of the Month Speaker Meeting will address âCoping with Depression and Anxiety during the Holiday Seasonâ on Wednesday, December 1, in the Eliot Room Library, First Church Congregational, 148 Beach Road, from 7:30 to 9 pm.
NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Its goals are to support those living with mental illness and their loved ones, to provide educational programs to the community that foster understanding and healthy living, and to provide advocacy.
Natalie S. DuMont, MS, LPC, assisted by Melanie St Raymond, MSW, will discuss the importance of self-care and instruct participants in exercises and techniques that reduce stress and anxiety. The evening promises to help people enjoy the holidays in a healthy way.
Ms DuMont is the owner/manager of Sage Wellness Center, LLC. She is an expert in cutting edge evidence-based therapies, with more than 15 years as a therapist in the field of psychiatry.
She uses both traditional and complementary approaches in her private practice. Ms St Raymond, MSW, is a case manager for Homes with Hope in Norwalk.
The meeting is open to the public, is free of charge, and light refreshments will be served. For more information, call Judy at 203-650-3463.
