The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown will have Willard Doyle painting a still life in oil at its next meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, March 9, at 7:30 pm.
The demonstration will take place in the lower level meeting room of Newtown Meeting House, at 31 Main Street (Route 25, at the flagpole). The public is welcome, and admission is free.
Will Doyle was raised in Chicago but lived several early years in Long Island. His father was a professional illustrator and designer, which influenced his sonâs early interest in fine art.
Mr Doyle earned a degree in industrial design from the Institute of Design at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago and studied fine art and design at the universities of Illinois and Northwestern.
Fine arts have been a lifelong interest for Mr Doyle who has drawn, painted and attended art workshops continually over the years while running his own design and marketing firm. He recently moved his family to Ridgefield, where he paints full time.
Recent exhibitions include a solo show at Chesterton Art Center in Chesterton, Ind., and group shows at Norris Cultural Arts Center in St Charles, Ill., and Ridgefield Guild of Artists.
Mr Doyle was awarded the John Mott Award for a Marine Painting at the juried Kent Art Association 2004 Fall Show for his oil painting âHudson River Tugs.â
