Program On Organ Transplants

BRIDGEPORT — The National Kidney Foundation of Connecticut (NKF) is sponsoring a free, information seminar entitled, “Getting Answers: Preparing for an Organ Transplant” on Thursday, April 14, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, at the Burroughs Community Center.

The seminar, which is open to the general public, will inform people about organ transplantation, including topics such as pretransplant evaluation and testing, psychosocial issues, financial matters, nutrition, and postoperative expectations. Several transplant professionals from Yale New Haven Transplant will present information about organ transplantation and will answer questions.

In addition, transplant recipients and living organ donors will be on the panel to answer questions about their own experiences. There are currently more than 500 Connecticut residents awaiting transplants.

Preregistration is required for this seminar. For more information or to register contact Donna Sciacca at the NKF of CT at 800-441-1280, ext 10.
