Moving Violations
Police said they saw motorist Andrew Lambo, 19, of 8 Country Squire Road driving on Main Street on the morning of April 22 without a front marker plate on his vehicle.
Police said they stopped Lambo to investigate and then charged him with failure to display a marker plate and with driving while under suspension.
After processing the case, police released Lambo on a written promise to appear May 10 in Danbury Superior Court.
Newtown police said they then turned over Lambo to Southbury police, who had a warrant for his arrest in connection with another matter.
Bethel Man
Police report they stopped motorist Mahammed Moussavian, 34, of Bethel about 9:18 pm April 23, after they spotted him driving very closely behind another vehicle southward on South Main Street.
After investigating, police arrested Moussavian on charges of following too closely and driving while under suspension. Following processing, police released Moussavian from custody on a promise to appear in court on May 12.
High-Speed Motorcyclist
Police report that they stopped motorcyclist Paul Stauffer, 40, of Redding when, while using radar, they detected him driving 80 miles per hour in a posted 30-mph zone on Mile Hill Road at about 8:30 pm April 24.
Police said Stauffer had his 12-year-old son on the rear seat of the motorcycle at the time.
Police arrested Stauffer on charges of reckless driving and speeding. Stauffer posted $100 bail and is scheduled for court arraignment on May 12.
Mt Pleasant DUI
Police said they received a complaint reporting that a motorist was driving unsafely on Mt Pleasant Road, swerving and crossing the roadâs centerline at about 7:20 pm on April 24.
Police said they went to area and observed motorist Ana Mendes, 41, of Danbury crossing over the roadâs centerline, so they stopped her to investigate near the intersection of Mt Pleasant Road and Reservoir Road.
Following field sobriety testing, police arrested Mendes on charges of driving under the influence and failure to drive to the right.
After she posted $100 bail, police released Mendes for a May 10 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Warrant
After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Kevin Jurasek, 16, of 14 Meadow Brook Road turned himself over to police on the afternoon of April 22, and was charged with second degree harassment. Police said the charge stems from a complaint that they received earlier this year concerning a telephone call. Police released Jurasek on a promise to appear in court on May 6.
Saturn Hits Tree
Motorist Ian G. Ball, 16, of Danbury, who was driving a 2000 Saturn sedan northward on Beaver Dam Road about 11:10 pm April 23, lost control of the auto while on a curve, drove off the right side of the road and struck a tree, police report. The auto carried for teenage passengers, police said.
The were no injuries in the crash, according to police. Police said Ball made a restricted turn and failed to carry a driverâs license. Police said they issued Ball a misdemeanor summons on a violation of passenger restrictions for new drivers.
Elm Drive
On April 22, police stopped Kevin Whipkey, 19, of 26 The Boulevard for not having a front marker plate on the vehicle that he was driving on Elm Drive.
After investigating, police charged Whipkey with failure to display a marker plate and with driving while under suspension. Police released Whipkey from custody on a promise to appear May 5 in Danbury Superior Court.
Queen Street DUI
Police report that at about 3:23 pm April 17, they stopped motorist Scott Tainter-Gilbert, 36, of 40 Black Bridge Road after they received a complaint about his alleged erratic driving.
Police said Tainter-Gilbert was given field sobriety tests on Queen Street, after which he was charged with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right.
After posting $260 bail, police released Tainter-Gilbert for an April 28 court appearance.
Motorcycle Mishap
Motorcyclist Thomas Ramsdell, 21, of 16 Pond Brook Road was driving a 2004 Yamaha northward near 401/2 Mt Pleasant Road at about 11:55 am April 22, when the motorcycle went out of control along the northbound road shoulder, police report.
The motorcycle fell onto its left side. Ramsdell fell off the motorcycle. Ramsdell and the motorcycle separately slid about 100 feet before coming to a stop, police said.
Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps staffers treated Ramsdell at the scene for leg abrasions, police said. Police took no enforcement.
Jeep Vs Deer
Motorist Phyllis OâNeill, 50, of 28 Still Hill Road was driving a 1998 Jeep Cherokee westward near 116 Currituck Road about 10 am April 21, police said. A deer entered the road, resulting in a collision. OâNeill was not injured. The deer left the scene before police arrived, police said.
Three Vehicles
Police report a three-vehicle accident near 49 Church Hill Road about 4:42 pm April 15.
Westbound motorist Christie Goodwick, 49, of 201 Hattertown Road, who was driving a 2000 Lexus ES-300, stopped for traffic, after which the Lexus was struck from behind by westbound motorist Matthew Cole, 17, of 9 Scenic View Drive, who was driving a 1990 Plymouth Voyager, police said.
Following that impact, westbound motorist Sarah A. OâNeill, 24, of Danbury, who was driving a 1995 Nissan Altima, struck the Plymouth from behind, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued both Cole and OâNeill written warnings for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Church Hill Collision
At about 9:30 pm April 18, a two-car accident occurred near 51 Church Hill Road, police report.
Eastbound motorist Christina Feola, 20, of 115 Currituck Road, who was driving a 2004 Honda Civic coupe, stopped and signaled to make a left turn into a gas station driveway, police said.
Motorist Tyler Law, 17, of 11 The Boulevard, who was driving a 1991 Volvo 240 station wagon carrying three teenage passengers, then struck the Honda from behind, police said.
The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Feola to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said. Police issued Law an infraction ticket for following too closely.
Car Vs Van
Motorist Jose Briceno, 33, of Bridgeport, who was driving a commercial courierâs 1998 Chevrolet Astrovan southward on South Main Street about 10 am April 26, stopped for a traffic signal at South Main Streetâs intersection with Wasserman Way, police said.
 Motorist Umberto Cassinelli, 81, of 77 St Georgeâs Place, who was driving a 2003 Toyota Camry sedan, then turned out from Country Club Road to head southward on South Main Street, striking  the rear end of the Chevrolet, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Cassinelli a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
Credit Card
Police report they arrested Timothy Stuart, 19, of 3 Sutherland Drive on a warrant on the night of April 26, lodging charges of illegal use of a credit card and sixth degree larceny.
Police said the charges stem from an investigation into a complaint that they received in late 2004. After processing the arrest, police released Stuart on a promise to appear May 17 in Danbury Superior Court for arraignment on the charges.
Telephone
Police report that a General Electric cordless telephone handset was found lying on the road near 17-E Butterfield Road on the afternoon of April 27. The owner may claim the device by contacting Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.
Berkshire Accident
Motorist Amanda Behari, 19, of 205 Hanover Road was driving a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire eastward on a wet Berkshire Road in rainy conditions about 2 pm April 27, when she lost control of the auto on a curve and struck a stone wall, police said.
Neither Behari, nor two passengers, were injured, police said. Police issued Behari a written warning for making a restricted turn.
Prelude Into Rails
Motorist Iqbal G. Vohra, 24, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2000 Honda Prelude eastward on a wet Mile Hill Road during rainy conditions about 2:37 pm April 23, attempted to negotiate a curve, but lost control of the auto and struck some guardrailing, police said.
Vohra was not injured. Police issued Vohra a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
SUV Vs SUV
Motorist Miriam Rhyins, 35, of 54 Main Street, who was driving a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee about 1 pm April 27, attempted to make a left turn from Country Club Road onto northbound South Main Street, but collided with a 2002 GMC Yukon being driven southward on South Main Street by Maura Fletcher, 40, of 39 Deep Brook Road, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Rhyins an infraction ticket for failure to yield the right of way.
Rear-Ender
Motorist Denise Scharf, 47, of 13 Flat Swamp Road, was driving a 2003 Subaru Forester westward on Glover Avenue about 3:16 pm April 23, and then stopped for a red traffic signal at Glover Avenueâs intersection with Route 25, police said.
Westbound motorist Alexander Naldini, 17, of 5 Linden Drive, who was driving a 1992 Honda Accord, then struck the Subaru from behind, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Naldini a written warning for following too closely.
