Breast Cancer Surgery Classes
Breast Cancer Surgery Classes
DANBURY â Biweekly Breast Cancer Surgery Classes take place on May 11 and May 25 at The Praxair Cancer Center at Danbury Hospital. The classes, which are conducted on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, are open to any newly diagnosed woman with breast cancer that plans to undergo or recently received breast cancer surgery.
The Breast Cancer Surgery classes take place from 4 to 5:30 pm in the Ruth C. Donovan Resource Room Library, located on the first floor, Stroock Building (Locust Avenue entrance). Family members and friends are also invited to attend.
The purpose of these classes is to provide information about what to expect before and after breast cancer surgery, including pre- and postoperative care, lymphedema precautions and exercise, relaxation techniques, as well as information regarding local support services.
Instructors include oncology health care professionals, complementary medicine coordinator, surgical staff nurse, occupational therapist, and volunteers from Bridges (a newly-established program by the Community Cancer Collaborative that connects newly-diagnosed breast cancer patients to breast cancer survivors).
