Smart Growth For Newtown

State Senator Bill Finch (Bridgeport, Trumbull, Monroe) will introduce a presentation on Smart Growth by representatives of the CenterEdge Project at the Newtown Democrats’ monthly meeting on Thursday, May 12, at 8 pm, in the Alexandria Room of Edmond Town Hall.

Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

The CenterEdge Project is a coalition of religious, environmental, business, civil rights, educational, government, and civic-minded organizations, as well as groups with a focus on housing and social services. It was created through an initiative by the Archdiocese of Hartford’s Office of Urban Affairs (OUA), one of the oldest and most respected religious and social action agencies in the country, to educate the public about disparities created by the long-term pattern of development in each metropolitan area of Connecticut.

The CenterEdge presentation gives people who live in very different settings the chance to discover surprising facts about shared problems and common self-interests, and has been well-received across the state.

Senator Finch is a leading advocate of Smart Growth in Connecticut and an expert in regional development issues, and will be available to answer questions about Smart Growth as it relates to state government.

The presentation will last about an hour.
