Crusaders

Newtown 7, New Haven Owls 0 – Rob Blanc and Joe Fedak banged out three hits apiece to lead the Crusaders to the win. Ralph Sergiovanni and Fedak combined on the three hit shutout with Adam Schankman leading a solid defensive effort at third base.

Newtown 13, New Haven Owls 1 – In the second game of a twin bill, Andy Lapple, George Zaruba and Anthony Lucia with two hits apiece as Spencer Gregoire and Casey Tenney contributed key hits. Zaruba and Chris Beauvais put together a strong pitching effort, scattering six hits and the Newtown defense turned two fine double plays to help out.

Newtown 9, New Haven Owls 8 – Ralph Sergiovanni had three hits and Andrew Clement had two hits and two RBI as the Crusaders batted around in the fifth inning to overcome a 6-1 deficit. George Zaruba drove a single through the drawn in infield in the bottom of the seventh to give the Crusaders the weekend sweep. The Crusaders will continue their season this weekend at the New England Invitational Tournament in Bristol.

Knights

Newtown 6, Terryville 3 – The Knights battled back from a 2-0 deficit, scoring five runs in the bottom of the fifth to overcome Terryville and run their record to 4 -1. Tyler Edwards smashed two triples, driving in two runs, and scored twice.  Keith McGrath added an RBI double and Dan Milot, Tory Deakin and Evan Barreto added hits. Jeff Spencer and Mike Coates pitched well while Adam Mannino earned the save with a perfect seventh.
