Charles Alfred Nostrand, Jr

Charles Alfred Nostrand, Jr, 75, died unexpectedly at home on May 19. He was born in the Bronx, N.Y., on April 25, 1930, to Charles A. Nostrand, Sr, and Josephine Wager Nostrand, and was a Tarrytown, N.Y., resident for the past 44 years.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jo Ann; and loving children, Charles A. Nostrand III and his wife, Kathy, of Newtown, Dawn Nostrand Finn and her husband, Steven, of Blauvelt, N.Y., and Tricia Nostrand Gonzalez and her husband, Wil Gonzalez, of Tarrytown, N.Y.; three loving grandchildren, Ryan Finn, Amanda Nostrand, and Molly Nostrand. He is also survived by a sister, Edith “Dee” Carlson and her husband, Len, of Keystone Heights, Fla., and sister-in-law, Bea Orsino and her husband, Roc, of Tarrytown; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Nostrand.

Mr Nostrand graduated from Edison High School in Mount Vernon, N.Y., and attended New York University.

He retired in 1988 from North American Phillips Corp after 40 years. He was a 44-year member of the Conqueror Hook and Ladder Co. in Tarrytown and a former member of Dad’s Club.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed reading and gardening, nature, and his pets.

A funeral service was held at the Dwyer Funeral Home, Tarrytown, May 23.
