Honors Scholars

STORRS — More than 1,200 of the University of Connecticut’s most outstanding students were honored April 11 during the university’s 14th annual Scholars Day. The event was held in the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts.

The ceremony, featuring a keynote address from political science Professor Betty Hanson, recognized students from all campuses who have succeeded academically during their time at UConn. The list includes 151 Babbidge Scholars and 1,084 New England Scholars, two of the highest academic honors awarded at the university.

Babbidge Scholars must maintain a 4.0 grade point average for the previous two semesters at UConn. New England Scholars must attain at least a 3.7 GPA for those two terms. To be considered for the honor, students also must be enrolled in at least 12 credits. 

Scholars from Newtown and Sandy Hook are Mary Anders, Jacqueline Ercole, Brendan Krueger, Benjamin March, Kathleen Mayer, Robert Milot, Jennifer Nelson, Krishna Patel, and Melissa Rushefski.
