Charlotte H. Lord

Charlotte Hopkins Lord, 99, of Schenectady, N.Y., died March 26 in St Clare’s Hospital in Schenectady.

Born in New Haven, Charlotte worked for the former New Haven Railroad in the baggage department during the 1920s. She moved to Newtown in 1948 where she was secretary for the Newtown Congregational Church for 20 years. She was also active in the church choir.

She moved to Schenectady in 1984 and attended Stanford United Methodist Church in Schenectady.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Frederick L. Lord; a son, Graham F. Lord of Guilderland, N.Y.; a sister, Gertrude Robb of West Haven.  She is also survived by a niece and two nephews. 

She was predeceased by her beloved granddaughter, Deborah Sue.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Kingsway Arms Nursing Center for their years of loving care. Appreciation is extended to the staff of St Clare’s Hospital Emergency Room and hospice unit for their gentle and thoughtful care at the end of Charlotte’s life.

Funeral services were held on March 29 at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Turnpike, Guilderland, N.Y. Burial followed at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland.

Memorial contributions may be made in Charlotte’s memory to the Adult Day Habilitation Program at the Center for the Disabled, 314 South Manning Boulevard, Albany NY 12208.
