Preparing For The 2005 Workplace
The Business and Professional Womenâs Club of Newtown will present âPreparing for the 2005 Workplaceâ at the April 4 meeting. The meeting will be held at My Place Restaurant, 8 Queen Street.
 Patricia Bailey will discuss looking for work in the year 2005. Topics will include resume, job search, interviewing, networking, and follow-up.
A re-employment specialist with the Connecticut Department of Labor, Ms Bailey has been employed as a counselor/trainer at the Danbury Office of Connecticut Works since 1999.
Prior to that, she worked with families considered âat riskâ by the Connecticut system. She has a masterâs degree in educational psychology from Western Connecticut State University and is a nationally certified counselor, a certified resume writer, and a member of the Career Masters Institute.
Registration begins at 6 pm. Dinner will be at 6:30 pm. Entrée choices are chicken piccata, lasagna, or grilled steak. Anyone who plans to attend should call in a reservation and an entrée choice by Friday, April 1, to Kelly Urso at 364-1667. The cost for dinner will be $25.
The Newtown Business and Professional Womenâs Club is a nonprofit organization that promotes the interests of business and professional women, providing them with an opportunity for networking.
 The club sponsors scholarships to help women who are changing or advancing their careers. For membership information, contact Margot Hall 426-9101.
The club is currently accepting applicants for its annual scholarship. A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a woman who is changing or advancing her career and is a Newtown resident.
Applications can be obtained in the reference area of the Cyrenius H. Booth Library or by calling Jean Leonard at 426-8294. The deadline for applications is April 8.
The scholarship will be presented at the May 2 BPW meeting.
