Ethel Helen Daruka Szabo, 84, of Easton, beloved wife of the late Frank “Fritz” Szabo, died September 25. She was born in Fairfield, grew up in Bridgeport, and made her home in Easton 49 years ago. 

Left to treasure her memory are her beloved sons, Fritzalan Szabo and his wife, Janice, of Newtown and Bruce Szabo and his wife, Jean, of Waycross, Ga.; six grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and a cherished godmother.

She was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Bridgeport. She was retired from the Town of Easton School System.

The memory of “Etty,” as she was known, will bring smiles to the faces of her family and friends as they recall her spirit of independence and determination.

A memorial service was held September 30. Smith & Sefcik Funeral Home, 135 Broad Street, Milford, was in charge of arrangements.
