Finding The Perfect Ride For 'Going Back In Time'
Finding The Perfect Ride For âGoing Back In Timeâ
Ashlar of Newtown and Lockwood Lodge held its fourth annual âGoing Back In Timeâ Classic Car Show and Sock Hop on Saturday, August 13, at their facility on Toddy Hill Road.
Members of the Classic Nights Car Club of Monroe brought 35 cars to the event, which included music by deejay Seth Carley, a barbecue, and a meet-and-greet by the greyhound rescue organization.
âDespite the heat, we had the most cars and the most spectators,â said Peggy Loulis, recreation director of Lockwood Lodge. âThey came with appetites and curiosity. We didnât have as many [Ashlar and Lockwood Lodge] residents, because it was so hot, but some who came were real troopers.â
Rich Gallaher took first place in the Peopleâs Choice competition with his 1963 Impala. Ms Loulis, whose husband Fred is the club spokesman, brought her 1964 Thunderbird convertible nicknamed Bluebird.
Members of the local Greyhound Rescue and Rehabilitation chapter brought several greyhounds who have been guests at Ashlarâs popular âpet therapyâ program. The group will be having a meet-and-greet on Saturday, August 27, from 11 am to 2 pm at Choice Pets, 67 Newtown Road in Danbury, to encourage adoptions.
