Healing Hearts To Host Daytime Bereavement Support

DANBURY — If someone close to you has died and you are experiencing feelings related to this loss, there will be a caring bereavement support group meeting in Newtown on second and fourth Mondays each month, from 10 to 11:30 am beginning September 12. This ongoing group will meet at the Newtown United Methodist Church, 92 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook.

Group counseling is offered free of charge and enrollment is open to residents of Newtown, Sandy Hook, Southbury, and surrounding communities for a limited time until the group is filled.

The Newtown support group is professionally facilitated by Laurie Petrasanta, who is a lead facilitator at The Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families. Ms Petrasanta also works for Newtown Youth Services and holds a master’s degree in community counseling.

If this group time or place does not work for you, there may be other support options available. Healing Hearts, which is a program of Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, Inc, offers various bereavement support groups in Danbury, Newtown, Ridgefield, Redding, New Fairfield, Bethel, and Brookfield for both adults and children. In addition, The Healing Hearts Town Program offers social support for those rebuilding their lives after loss.

To preregister or find out more about Healing Hearts programs, call Kendall Palladino at Regional Hospice, 797-1685, extension 37. Preregistration is required.
