To Charity Concert
To the Editor:
On December 15, the Newtown Teen Center hosted a charity concert. The event was a success; $150 was raised and given to the Disability Resource Network which is part of Connecticut Youth Leadership Project (whose current project is to build a ramp for a wheel-chair bound young man in Bridgeport).
This could not have happened so smoothly were it not for several local individualsâ time, talents, and help. Those individuals are: Donna of Newtown Parks and Recreation who assisted the cause via her communication skills; Amy, manager of the Teen Center who helped to set up the show; Mr Esteves of the Disability Resource Network; Nick Luzzi, member of Lucky Strykes (a local band popular with many of the townâs metal-savvy citizens), who played at the show with his band and encouraged people to come; Andrew Genitino, who supplied the amps and his musical talent as the one-man metal band, Punch The Goat.
The bands that played made possibly the biggest donation to the cause and are listed here: Apocalypse Radio, Lucky Strykes, Squinty and the Screw-Ups, Kevin King, YesPlease, and Ikarus. Also thanks goes out to Mr Clayton, vice principal of Newtown High School, Mrs Bennett, secretary to Mr Clayton. Last but not least, I thank all attendees of the show, all friends and family of those involved in its production, and anyone who helped to spread the word. I had a lot of fun organizing and attending the event.
Sincerely,
Zach Richter
