Thomas D. Sansone

Thomas D. “Tom” Sansone, 85, husband of Henrietta (Mascari) Sansone, died on September 25, in St Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport.

He was the grandfather of Clarence O. (Guy) Peterson, IV, of Newtown, Conn.

Born in Mt Vernon, N.Y., Mr Sansone was a resident of Mt Vernon for 84 years. He was the son of the late Sabato and Palma Sansone. Mr Sansone worked for Ward Leonard Electric Company as an electrical control technician for 43 years until his retirement in 1986, advancing to chief inspector and attaining the position of quality assurance manager. Following his retirement, Ward Leonard retained Mr Sansone as a consultant to their Quality Assurance Division. He also worked as a photographer and an appliance store manager.

As an active participant in his professional community, he was past president of the Southern Westchester Industrial Management Association, a member of the American Society for Quality Control, the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, a member of the Echo Bay Yacht Club where he served for two terms on the Board of Governors, the Westchester County Grand Jurors Association, the Elks Lodge 746, Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus, parishioner of St Catherine Church in Pelham, N.Y., and served as a Mt Vernon Hospital volunteer. A long time music lover, Mr Sansone led and played bass in the Tommy Sands Orchestra at numerous local affairs, and he was a life member of the Musicians Association of Westchester County Local 38.

Survivors, in addition to his wife and grandson, include two daughters, Barbara Peterson of Fairfield, and Janet Sansone of Alexandria, Va.; three brothers, Joseph, Angelo, and Dominick Sansone; one sister, Mary Sgammato; three other grandsons, Bradley T. Peterson of Portland, Ore., David Oates of San Diego, Calif., and Thomas Oates of Nashville, Tenn.; and great-grandsons Brenden and Devin Peterson of Newtown. Mr Sansone was predeceased by one brother, Anthony.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 29, at 10:15 am in the Spear Funeral Home, 39 South Benson Road, Fairfield, and at 11 am in St Pius X Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Calling hours were scheduled on Thursday, September 28, from 3 to 7 pm in the funeral home.

Contributions in memory of Mr Sansone may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
