June Is Adopt-A-Shelter Cat Month
The Animal Center, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), and Fresh Steplitter are celebrating June as Adopt-A-Shelter-Cat Month to bring attention to the wonderful cats and kittens available for adoption nationwide.
âSpring and summer are the times of year when rescue groups and shelters are often overflowing with cats of all ages, sizes, and colors,â says Monica Roberto, president of The Animal Center. âBy adopting a feline friend, not only are you giving a local homeless cat a second chance, but you will also have a lifelong companion who will bring many years of joy to your family.â
Adopting from The Animal Center offers a number of benefits included in a catâs adoption fee: a veterinary exam, neutering, deworming, and age-appropriate vaccines. And the centerâs locally based team is always on hand to answer any questions that may arise after a cat has been adopted.
Local residents who adopt during the month of June will also receive starter kits for their adopted animals that include information on cat and kitten care, food samples, and toys.
Many of the current animals available from The Animal Center can be seen online at TheAnimalCenter.org. The public is invited to meet some of the animals, along with the staff of The Animal Center, on Saturday, June 17. An Adoption Day will be held from noon to 2 pm at Paws On Main, 268 Main Street in Monroe.
The Animal Center is a Newtown-based nonprofit charity focused on animal welfare. Â More information about Adopt-A-Shelter Cat month and The Animal Center can be found online.
