‘Connecticut Collects’ At The Mattatuck

WATERBURY — Remember the joy of starting a collection of rocks, baseball cards and buttons? Sarah Shinn Pratt, the guest curator of “Connecticut Collects,” has sought out individuals and couples with unique collections who are willing to share them in a special museum exhibit that has opened at the Mattatuck Museum.

Among the treasures will be Madame Alexander dolls owned by Molly A. Parker, a group of match safes owned by Shelley Tyler, miniature salesmen’s samples from Carole Peck, Roseville pottery owned by Garth and Janet Collins, 18th Century Connecticut furniture, American Indian artifacts, weathervanes, and robots from John Kleeman’s Space Age Collection.

“Connecticut Collects” will be on display until Sunday, November 13, when preparations begin for the museum’s annual “Festival of Traditions.”

The exhibit can be viewed during regular museum hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm; and Sunday, noon to 5 pm. Visitors can also visit the permanent painting exhibits.
