NHS Assault
Police arrested a 16-year-old male Newtown High School student on five criminal charges following a violent incident at the school about noon on March 12.
Police said that the youth approached another student, who is under age 16, in a school hallway believing that the younger student had stolen a wallet from him. The youth then assaulted the younger person. The victim received a facial injury, police said.
 An ensuing check of the offending youthâs vehicle by school administrators revealed that it held some drug paraphernalia, police said. Also, found was some tobacco and two street signs for local roads, police added.
Police then transported the 16-year-old boy to the police station for criminal booking where he was charged with third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of tobacco by a person under age 18, and with sixth-degree larceny by possession.
After arrest processing, police released the youth on a written promise to appear on March 20 in Danbury Youthful Offender Court.
State law conceals the identities of people under age 18 who are charged with crimes.
VW Vs BMW
A two-vehicle collision occurred on Wasserman Way, near the Exit 11 interchange of Interstate 84, about 4:20 pm March 12.
Motorist Mary Arther, 45, of Monroe, who was driving a 1996 BMW 328-IL convertible, stopped for a stopped noncontact vehicle and was then struck from behind by motorist Espinal Damiany, 20, of Danbury, who was driving a 1999 Volkswagen Passat sedan, police report.
There were no injuries. Police issued Damiany a written warning for traveling an unreasonable distance apart.
DUI Incident
Police report that they saw motorist David E. Villarreal, 20, of 19 Currituck Road not keeping to the right side of the road while driving an automobile near 75 South Main Street late on the night of March 13, so they stopped him to investigate.
Police said that they then charged Villarreal with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right.
Following processing, police released Villarreal on $100 bail for a March 26 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.
Five Charges
Police said that while conducting traffic speed enforcement on Currituck Road at about 7:09 am on March 16, they stopped motorist Matthew Villodas, 27, of Brookfield to investigate.
Police said they then charged Villodas with traveling too fast for conditions, possession of narcotics, possession of less than four ounces of marijuana, failure to keep narcotics in their original prescription container, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Following processing, police released Villodas on $100 bail for a March 31 court appearance.
Cellphone
About 10:19 am on March 13, motorist Angela Hunt, 27, of West Haven was driving westward on Wasserman Way, near Exit 11 of Interstate 84, and was speaking on a handheld cellphone, police report.
Police said they stopped Hunt to investigate and charged her with using a handheld cellphone while driving and with driving with a suspended license.
After they processed her arrest, police released Hunt on a written promise to appear in court on March 27.
South Main Collision
About 7:50 am March 11, motorist Christopher Buccieri, 42, of 3 Mt Nebo Road, who was driving a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV southward near 150 South Main Street, stopped for traffic conditions and was struck from behind by southbound motorist James Pessolano, 59, of New Fairfield, who was driving a 1996 Honda Accord sedan which slid into the rear end of the Jeep on the wet pavement, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Pessolano a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Batchelder
Following an incident about 3 pm March 14, police charged six people in their late teens and early 20s with simple trespassing for allegedly illegally entering the site of the former Batchelder aluminum smelting plant at 46 Swamp Road in Botsford.
The property, which is near Swamp Roadâs intersection with Botsford Hill Road, contains extensive amounts of toxic waste from former industrial operations there.
Police said they went to the scene after receiving a report that people were entering the property, which is gated and posted with âNo Trespassingâ signs.
Charged with simple trespassing were: James Pope of 18 Dusty Lane; Daniel Wiener of 9 Marlin Road; Crystal Cunningham and Michael Cunningham, both of 44 Black Bridge Road; and Thomas Yacko and Steven Yacko, both of 22 Hyvue Drive, according to police.
The trespassing infractions carry $92 fines which are appealable in court.
I-84 Collision
State police report a two-vehicle accident on westbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 11, about 4:25 pm March 13.
On a three-lane section of the highway, motorist Keith Sniffen, 52, of Danbury, who was driving a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck, attempted to change travel lanes and collided with motorist Faheem Zahid, 19, of Danbury, who was driving a 1999 Nissan Sentra, state police said.
There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.
Interstate Crash
About 5:18 pm March 12, three vehicles were involved in an accident on Interstate 84, state police said.
In that incident, motorist Stephen Polmar, 68, of Woodbridge, who was driving a 2009 Audi A-3, was unable to stop in time and collided with two other vehicles, state police said.
Those vehicles were a 2005 Ford Focus driven by Ronald Breen, 62, of Weyers Cave, Va., and a 1999 International 4000 truck driven by Christopher Caggiano, 37, of East Haven, state police said.
There were no injuries. State police said Polmar was following too closely.
Highway Accident
Two vehicles collided on Interstate 84, at the Exit 9 interchange, about 6:48 am March 9, state police report.
State police said than motorist Joseph DosSantos, 49, of Shelton, who was driving a 2009 Nissan Altima, yielded to approaching traffic and was then struck from behind by motorist Longfong Hsu, 43, of 8 Hawthorne Hill Road, who was driving a 2005 Ford Expedition.
There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.
Digital Larceny
Police report that someone sometime between 10:30 pm on March 8 and 9 am on March 9, entered an unlocked vehicle parked near a Kent Road house and then stole from the vehicleâs glove compartment an Apple-brand iPod Classic digital media player.
Police are investigating the theft as a case of fifth-degree larceny. Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call investigating Officer John McCluskey at the police station at 426-5841.
Berkshire Road
About 11:06 am March 16, motorist Joanne Caruso, 51, of 27 Berkshire Road, who was driving a 2006 Porsche Cayenne SUV westward near 151 Berkshire Road (Route 34), stopped for a work crew that was preparing to remove a deer carcass from the middle of the road, police said.
Westbound motorist Avanti Simmons, 22, of New Haven, who was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla sedan, then drove into the rear end of the Porsche, police said.
There were no injuries. Police issued Simmons a written warning for following too closely.
