FOR 2/22

YVON LAMBERT, N.Y. SVEN KRONER

AK/CD  SET 2/18 #729012

NEW YORK CITY — Yvon Lambert New York announces the first solo exhibition by Sven Kroner in the United States will be at the gallery through March 22. Titled “Hidden Path,” the exhibition includes ten 2007 paintings by Kroner (b 1973, Kempten, Germany). Concurrent with the exhibition at Yvon Lambert, a museum survey show of Kroner’s work is being held at the Gemeentemuseum Helmond, in Holland.

For “Hidden Path,” Kroner has painted landscapes familiar to him since childhood, yet not referring to a specific moment or experience. Some landscapes are empty, some have signs of human life, and even if the landscape has no human figures, the artist suggests their presence.

In addition to the current museum survey show at the Gemeentemuseum Helmond, past solo museum exhibitions have been held at the Landesmuseum Mainz, and the Kunstverein Xanten, Germany. Kroner’s work had been included in “Die Sammlung Hanck,” Museum Kunst Palast, Düsseldorf; “Figuring the Landscape,” Contemporary Art Galleries at the University of Connecticut; “Vincent van Gogh en het Expressionisme,” Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam; “How High Can You Fly,” Kunsthaus Glarus, Switzerland; and” Traumschiff Malerei,” Museum der Stadt Ratingen, Ratingen, Germany.

“Hidden Path” is accompanied by a fully illustrated catalog with an essay by Merel van Tilburg of the Universite de Geneve.

Yvon Lambert is at 550 West 21st Street. For information, www.yvon-lambert.com or 212-242-3611.
