Important Dates
To the Editor:
Part of the mission of Newtownâs PTA Council is to share important upcoming dates regarding proposed school budget deliberations and ongoing activities related to space needs at the high school and throughout the community.
The next meeting, a public forum on space needs, is scheduled to be held February 6, at 7:30 pm, in the High School Lecture Hall.
The next evening, a public question and answer session, is set for 7 pm in the Reed School Library. This will be a rare opportunity for residents to ask the Board of Education members and leaders from the school districtâs Administration questions.
Currently, the Board of Education does not answer questions during the public portion of its regular meetings.
Another school board budget session is scheduled for February 9, at 7:30 pm, in the Reed School Library. This may be the final budget session before the Board of Ed presents its proposed budget to the Board of Finance.
As president of the Newtown PTA Council, I share the sentiments of all our members in encouraging all taxpayers and interested residents to participate in the governmental process where you can actually make a difference! Let your voice be heard if you have any ideas or opinions to offer â with the many school and space need challenges facing our community right now, your input is critical!
Local PTA volunteers and its Council members are dedicated advocates for children working to provide opportunities for everyone in Newtown to participate in our ongoing public forums. Our Newtown Council of PTAâs is scheduled to meet at 9:30 am, February 7, at the Booth Library.
We invite you to join us for this or any PTA meeting to listen to ideas from this dedicated group of PTA officers and representatives, and to contribute your own. For more information, Newtown Bee readers are welcome to contact me personally or leave a message at 364-1988
Thank you,
