2009 Bridgewater Fair

Award Winners

The 58th Bridgewater Country Fair was held the weekend of August 21–23.

While a few events — including the big Firemen’s Parade that officially opens the event on Friday night, along with the garden tractor pull, antique tractor pull, pony pull, and pet parade — were washed out this year, most traditional competitions were able to go forward as planned. Following is a listing of the Newtown and Sandy Hook residents who brought home some of the top ribbons from the fair.

*Dairy, Intermediate Showmanship Champion: Shannon Paproski.

*Baking Contest (Senior Division), Apple Coffee Cake: first place, Phyllis Polonkay.

*Baking (Senior Division), Lemon Glazed Lemon Muffins: first place, Katherine Lukienchuk.

*Baking (Senior Division), Blueberry Banana Bread: third place, Stephanie Conant.

*Needlework (Adult), Division 3/Crochet, Class 4 – Baby Afghan: second place, Christine Irwin.

*Needlework (Adult), Division 3/Crochet, Class 9 – Child’s Sweater: second place, Christine Irwin.

*Needlework (Adult), Division 3/Crochet, Class 13 – Hat or Scarf: third place, Christine Irwin; and fifth place, Tara Foster.

*Needlework (Adult), Division 4/Knitting, Class 6 – Adult Sweater: first place, Barbara Campbell.

*Needlework (Adult), Division 7/Quilted, Class 2 – Miniature: second place, Kay Epp.

*Needlework (Adult), Division 7/Quilted, Class 4 – Hand Quilted: second place, Kay Epp.

*Needlework (Adult), Division 7/Quilted, Class 11 – Wall Hang, Machine: second place, Kay Epp.

*Needlework (Adult), Division 8/Counted Cross, Class 2 – Framed: second place, Rebecca Slossom.

*Hobbies (Senior), Handmade: second place, Tara Foster.

*Pedal Tractor Pull, Sunday (5-6-year old division): sixth place, Kyle Mockovak.

*Pedal Tractor Pull, Sunday (7-8-year old division): fifth place, Eric Mockovak.
