Looking Toward Retirement
Looking Toward Retirement
To the Editor:
Long before there were cellphones, the Internet, computers, or widespread use of penicillin, there was the Newtown Animal Clinic. Animals have always been an integral part of life in Newtown, and so in 1936 Dr Russell Strasburger fulfilled his dream and built the clinic as you know it today at 98 South Main Street. I have been the most recent guardian of this fine Newtown establishment and, as many of you already know, I have decided to follow a different path and have retired from veterinary practice.
Much of the credit for my many successful years at the clinic belongs to an exceptional staff and to the daily help of my wife, Diane. I would like to thank them, and also the many fine people of the Newtown area who have given me their support and shown confidence in me for the care of their beloved companions. Your innumerable cards, calls, gifts, and wishes for a happy retirement have been overwhelming and have provided me with many reminders of the special times which we have spent together. Many thanks to everyone for your thoughtfulness.
I will miss all of you, but do hope to see you as we go about our daily lives in Newtown. And to my countless furry friends a bit of advice: donât roam, find a cozy, sunny spot for a daily nap, and stop to smell the roses â and the grass, and the treesâ¦
Sincerely,
Dr Neal J. Warner
