Motorcycle Mishap On Church Hill

Police report a motorcycle accident about 6:11 pm June 30 at the intersection of Church Hill Road and Commerce Road. Motorist Robert Pitcher, 82, of 15 Park Lane, who was driving a 2000 Toyota Camry eastbound on Church Hill Road, was waiting for a gap in the westbound traffic to allow him to turn left into the Pizza Palace parking lot, police said. As The Toyota turned left, it cut in front of eastbound motorcyclist Jeff Bean, 49, of Westport, who was driving a 1986 Suzuki RG-500. Bean braked heavily and landed the motorcycle on its side to avoid a collision. The two vehicles did not make contact, but Bean received multiple injuries. Police issued Pitcher a written warning for making an improper turn.                                                                                                                                                  ––Bee Photo, Hicks
